Black is the New Black???

Hi friends,

Welcome back to another wonderful Tuesday fashion post with meeeee. I am sure you have all been eagerly awaiting this installment since last Tuesday, and lucky for you, I am servin’ it up to ya! I would first like to give a shoutout to my mother, because she has been killin’ it with the blog pic taking lately.. I am just so proud of that little booger. Second, these pictures come to you courtesy of taking them very last minute by the river yesterday, so please enjoy my pale legs in the freezing weather.

On to the good stuff, this outfit is everything you need in your closet, and in summary it can be described as a little black with a little more black, aaaand a wee bit of lavender. If there ever comes a time when you stare into the dark abyss of your closet and have no idea of what to wear, I am here to tell you that the answer is BLACK. Sometimes it is fun to go grim reaper on everyone and rock that all black. You can even straighten that hair, smudge on too much eyeliner and channel your inner Ozzy. I’m not here to tell you how to wear it (okay maybe I am a little), I am just saying there are sooooo many options.

If you want to go short and cute to counteract that black dress with your overly pale legs, boy do I have the option for you. (Sidenote: I never realize how pale my legs really are until I look back at the pictures taken and realize I should apologize for blinding all of you). Here it is:

So let’s get started! My dress is technically a tunic from Free People, but most of their stuff runs pretty long. However, wear this dress at your own discretion.. if you have the legs of a giraffe or plan to do a large amount of bending and snapping, I would suggest some shorts underneath, bending at the knees, or just simple old pants. I sized up to make it more dress-like, but you do you! I love love love this dress/tunic thing though. It is thick and warm with a little bit of a cowl neck. It can be dressed up or down and would look really cute paired with a pair of ankle boots as well. It even comes in a few other colors!

Next, let’s document the fact that I am smiling at no one.. Cool Ciera. This posing stuff is hard. But look no further than my cute OTK boots to help my legs kinda sorta know what to do. For those who don’t know, OTK means Over the Knee. These boots are the perfect combination of spiciness and comfort, because we are all fully aware that OTK heeled boots and me would only last about 5 minutes before taking a nosedive.. literally. These cutie pies are Sam Edelman and were most likely purchased from Nordstrom, but I can’t be too sure since I stole them from my mother’s closet. THEY ARE CURRENTLY ON SALE AT NORDSTROM!!!! GET THEM NOW!!!! The best part about these shoesies is the fact that they have a little tie in the back of the boot, so you can lace em up and not have to worry about pulling them up 467 times throughout the day. These boots are also perfect for more casual wear, like with jeans as I wore them the other day.

And lastly, my main chick, Rebecca Minkoff. If you are in need of a purse, get yourself a Rebecca Minkoff, you deserve it. If you already have a purse, toss that current one and get a Rebecca Minkoff. That’s how much I love her/them. The quality is so so good as well as being fashionable and super functional. I stumbled across this pretty princess of a lavender crossbody at Nordstrom Rack, and I could not have been happier. There are so many other colors and styles to choose from on her website, so I really suggest going to check it out. This purse is everything I didn’t know I needed in my life.. lavender and more suede. I’m in love.

IMG_E9757Thanks so so much for reading again. I hope you get out there, put on all the black you can find, and channel that goth/grunge phase you all secretly wanted to go through. Also, extra special blogpost coming next week from my FIRST EVER guest writer. So get excited. 🙂 See you next week!

Xo, Ciera
