It’s a favorites kind of day

It’s a favorites kind of day

Howdy partners,

Not super sure why I started out with that intro but I will not be taking it back now. Today does not have any sort of western theme, but the greeting felt right. I hope everyone’s Wednesday is going well, and hopefully someone out there has nicer weather than I am experiencing right now. The storms are out of control, and although I am a fan of summer rain, this weather does not make for good/easy to take blog pics.

But anywayyyy you all probably don’t care too much about my sob story, and instead came here to read about some of my favorites, or maybe you just came here to see pictures of my shining face.. you don’t have to tell me! Buuuuttt today’s favorite things are real real good, let me tell ya.

First on the list is POLKA DOTS! They are the pattern of the season and will most definitely be carrying into summer as well. They are super cute and fun to mix n’ match with other patterns and colors. 🙂 And like uber cute in this set form from Nomad Boutique. (Here are some other cute polka dot numbers also. :))

And the other two favorites are the holy grail of all hair products. Number 1 is the dry shampoos of all dry shampoos by IGK. There are three levels of this brand of dry shampoos, and this particular one is the highest level and I swear to you that it covers up 4th day oily hair like it’s nothing. I don’t even know how it does it, but it’s magic. And then next is the Ouai texturizing spray. As a girl who has flat and straight hair naturally, I need all of the help I can get and this spray does just that. It gives ya that volume you need to take on your day and be the hot, sassy mama you are. 🙂

So dear friends I hope your Wednesday is extra fantastic and you have some sunshine on this rainy day. 🙂

Hey hey hey,

I am going to get right to it today with a guest post from my mother dearest! And yes, she is my mother, not my sister and to all of those that like to tell her we look like sisters.. you’re the worst. Ellen has a special post to celebrate Mother’s Day by bringing you some of the best advice she now knows as a mama. And then after her novel, I will show you some Mommy’s Day gift ideas since I am sure you still haven’t gotten her anything.

A word from mi madre-

All About that Mom Life:

Five things I wish I knew then that I know now:

  1. Dr. Spock (Google It! ;)) was right!

That guy…spoke to me!! Dr. Spock was unequivocally my generation’s (insert any other top parenting book title here!) and knew his SHIT, even when I didn’t know mine! He gave me tough love advice and the confidence I needed to make hard parenting decisions (e.g.., will my kids be forever scarred if I step away from their demanding little faces while I take a “time out” in the other room?!).

  1. I MISS my littles!

Watching them grow into amazing, confident, self-sufficient adults is truly amazing and overwhelmingly satisfying, BUT I MISS THEM and want to go back in time and hold them and love on them just a little while longer! We made so many memories, but I took that time for granted and I want it back!

*Note from Ciera: Obviously I am the cutest one starting us off. :)*

But these cuties help you remember your kids as babies and become the best parts of them too!

mom day grandkids

  1. Momming was actually easier when they were little!

Those cute little buggers could be coaxed with a smile (or a strongly worded whisper) into good behavior or a smart decision, now they are on to me and see me coming a mile away! Now I am reduced to light-hearted, well placed suggestions!

  1. I could get Gemma-level (Sons of Anarchy😉), mama-bear, so on another level crazy protective over my kids – then and now!

Who knew the love could be so fierce?

  1. I will never be the same…

“Making the decision to have a child – it is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” -Elizabeth Stone

Being a mom has changed me forever. It is my proudest accomplishment and the hardest, most challenging moments of my life – I wouldn’t change a single minute!

mom day all

I love them to the moon and back and then some!

And here are some gift ideas for the best lady in your life!!

Well mom, I know you didn’t type it out because you didn’t want to hurt their feelings, but I will always know that I am your favorite child and subsequently you are my favorite mom. 🙂 We love you lots and to the moon and back and a lot of other ways too! Happy Mother’s Day, Burny. <3 (don’t kill me for that one).

El Cinco de Drinkooooo

El Cinco de Drinkooooo

Hola amigos!

Feliz Wednesday to you. I do indeed know how to say Wednesday in Spanish, but I didn’t feel like enabling the accents on my keyboard, so you get some splanglish today.. lo siento (sorry). I swear I will stop talking in Spanish today so you don’t have to put this whole thing in Google Translate because that would be reallyyyyyyy annoying. But the Spanish is for a reason because this Saturday is CINCO DE MAYO. Yes people the 5th of May is finally here. Although it was originally intended as a day to celebrate Mexico’s victory over the French Empire, we Americans have now made it a day for consuming too much chips, guac, and margaritas for any normal person!

Now for a non-drinking, baby-face like me, Cinco de Mayo is more of a celebration of cute clothes and an excess of chips and salsa. But I am sure for some of you party people, tequila is interchangeable with water on this fine day. Whether you’re eating or drinking your calories this weekend, having cute clothes is of the utmost importance. Now I am a top notch bartender and can make you up a mean margarita (the way my momma taught me), but the only way I am assisting you for this holiday is with the best fashion you could get wild in. So for today’s favorite things I have got the spiciest pieces to celebrate the day of Hispanic flair!

So I wish you the happiest Cinco de Drinko and Eat-o. 🙂
