We’ve got a lot to catch up on

Hey hey hey,

It’s a wonderful Thursday now that the sun is out and the snow is melted for now. Every morning I wake up and see snow on the ground is another day that I die a little inside, and today was just one of those days. Apparently UNR believes in snow-driving as a regular activity and likes all of its students to practice it on a daily basis, so there is no chance of a cancelled school day anytime soon. With that being said, snow & school are at about the very top of my least favorites list right now, so instead of continuing on with my whining, I’ll share my list of recent favorites with you.

It has been ages since I did a favorites post, and I have not stopped using random products that may or may not work sooooo I have a good chunk of things to throw your way. As always, I will only tell you the good-good because I appreciate your time and money more than I appreciate my own apparently (insert shrugging emoji here). Alrighty friends, let’s get this favorites party started.

  1. IGK Toning Drops – Honestly, I didn’t know these existed up until a couple of months ago, and I think my life has been forever changed since that discovery. My brassy ass has the brassiest of brassy hairs and a toning in the salon every 8 weeks is just not in the budget.. luckily these drops take care of all of the nasty copper colors in my hair that I try to avoid. Disclaimer: it will make your hands purple if you are not careful.
  2. Isle of Paradise Dark Tanning Water – If there was a contest for the most tanning methods tried by any one person, I think I would win (if there is one, please let me know). There are definitely pros and cons to each method, but this spray water gives the perfect purple-tinted tan. Also, it doesn’t rub off on your clothes or easily sweat off, because surprisingly enough your clothes don’t want to be tanned as well.
  3. Beauty Blender Case – Although you may not want to admit it, that spongy thing that you are applying makeup with is not germ free. Those little suckers are crawling with bacteria, and deserve to be washed and nuked in the microwave more often than you would assume. The case is the perfect everyday necessity to house your blender post-makeup application and air out all of its sins.
  4. Citrus Stitch Hair Scarves – There is no better accessory than a hair scarf when you are just feeling a wee bit blah about any outfit. Ashlyn, the maker of these hair scarves is also the nicest, kindest soul and deserves all of the success in the world. She hand sews each one with love and makes sure you feel super super cute.
  5. White/Ivory/Light Pink Eyeliner – I used to be on this white eyeliner kick in high school where I outlined my eyeball with it.. but I looked more like an extra for an ice princess role instead of like someone that knows how to do their makeup. Nowadays I use a light shade of eyeliner right on the inside of my tear duct just to brighten up my eyes and look a little dewy for the day.

That’s all I’ve got for now, mostly because I can’t force myself off of the couch to see if there is anything else I need to add to the list. If I think of any additions, expect to see them on the next edition of ‘Favorites with Ciera’. Have the best of days and the wildest of weekends.

Autumn favorites

Autumn favorites

Hi friends,

I don’t know why but I felt way fancier using the word autumn instead of fall in my title.. like a more worldly version of myself. Just imagine me being a world traveling gal who spends half of my time in New York and the other in the Maldives since I need a vacation from my vacation. That’s the version of me that I imagine using the word autumn on a regular basis, but here I am, regular old me using it anyway. Thank goodness I did use such a good word since my title was a little lackluster, however it is a very good depiction of what today’s post is really about – my favorites of the season.

So although the title and intro to this has been of little entertainment, I promise we are going to get back on the horse and get moving in no time. As it is slowly beginning to creep into lower temperatures and crisper air, it is time to break out the fall scents, beverages, and oversized scarves. Anyway, you no longer need your watermelon & sunscreen scented candle or strawberry lemonade starbs, you need autumn (there it is, that word again) in every part of you life.. so I am going to tell you just how to bring on the fall!

  1. A fuzzy sweater or two – I don’t know why but I have never been the cute loungewear type of gal, like if you see me on a Sunday afternoon you may want to shield your eyes for your own safety. However, I love a good sweater or cardi, and I think it somehow makes any outfit like baggy sweats or a pair of skinnies and booties look so much cozier. And I like to look cozy, because you know on cold days you don’t think to yourself, wow that girls looks cute.. you think wow, that girl looks warms. So let’s look cozy together
  2. Pumpkin spice errythangggg – I love a good pumpkin flavored anything just as much as the next gal, but the thing they don’t tell you about (even though they kinda do) is that pumpkin spice is not calorie/sugar free. VERY SAD AND RUDE IF YOU ASK ME. But I have a solution for you. Instead of ordering a grande pumpkin spice latte and intaking your weekly calories in a few sips, try this: Grande coffee (I like mine iced), 2 pumps pumpkin spice and 1 pump sugar free vanilla, and you have yourself a much lighter version of a fall favorite!
  3. Christmas music?? – okay I know no one else listens to this as early as me, but I would suggest it. Great music. Yay Christmas.
  4. Cinnamon stick witch broom thing – I am really not sure how to describe this one, but I got a large stick that smells like cinnamon at Trader Joe’s last week and it has made my home smell heavenly.. kinda like a burning scent at times, but still good nonetheless.
  5. Scarves and hats – I don’t know why, but it is just way easier for me to accessorize in fall than it is at any other time of the year. I haven’t worn a scarf yet, but hats are creeping up as my most worn item this month (does help that they cover my dirty hair once or twice a week as well). And scarves just make me feel so upper east side NYC chic.

That’s all the ideas I’ve got in my brain since I think I have a self diagnosed concussion, but here’s hoping my brain functions yet again next time. Much love.

Let your hair down and live a little

Let your hair down and live a little

Hey hi whatcha doin,

Haps Thursday my pretties! One day closer to the weekend and actually getting a decent amount of sleep compared to the nightly 4-5 hours during the week. Huzzah! I cannot even tell you the amount of times I have yawned within the last 48 hours. I don’t even notice it anymore.. one second I am fully awake and then the next my mouth is wide open, one eye is closed, and I look like I’m waiting for someone to throw a gummy bear in my mouth while also closing my eye after squeezing lemon juice in it.. I just can’t win. If that didn’t paint a pretty picture of my yawning behavior, I don’t know what will.

But anywhoooo, for all of those wondering.. my hair is pink. And not like a 7th grade emo vibe with bangs all the way across my face and me saying ‘rawr :D’ a lot, but instead like a cute little rose gold pinkish tint. I am sure my pink hair means nothing to most of you, but the temporary tint on my hair is a segway into me telling you that it is time to change up your boring hair routine. I also get stuck in a hair rut once in awhile when my hair has the same curl going for 4 days or so (may also be because I don’t wash my hair very often, but don’t judge me). Ya know that week when your hair looks like it hasn’t seen a shower, blowdry or other heat tool in ages? Well I am here to help you out and give your hair a little pizazz.

The best part about hair is that it grows back. I am going to say that one more time for those in the back, front, and middle that chose not to listen.. HAIR GROWS BACK. I really am the least attached to my hair when it comes to getting beautified. I mean in physical terms, yes my hair is very attached to me, but metaphorically I could do anything to it and remember that I can try again next time. You could dye your hair dark brown, hate it, (wait a safe 6-8 weeks to not fry it off) and add in some highlights to get you on your way back to blonde. You could chop off 12 inches and hate it the next day, but the good news is that extensions are a thing or crazy concept here… HAIR GROWS BACK. Anyway, our hair deserves some tender love and affection and a little bit of newness if I do say so myself, so here I am with my hair favorites to spice up your hair life. 🙂

  1. Plastic twirly twirl hairties – clearly not the technical term, but Invisibobble hairties have saved my gosh dang life. They don’t leave creases in your hair and I loveeee that you cant see them when up in a bun. Disclaimer: they are like all other objects you put in your hair, if you aggressively pull them out they will rip your hair.. that’s user error. 🙂 Also, they do stretch pretty quick but last forever.
  2. Kristen Ess Rose Gold Tint – this is the stuff that is in my hair to make it pink. Ya know when you just have those days where you feel like you want a quick changeup that won’t haunt you for the rest of your life? Try this stuff out for a fun pastel look. Disclaimer: it does turn your bathtub pink, but there ain’t nothing a magic eraser can’t clean up.
  3. Hair accessories – I am pretty sure I have mentioned these about 68392 times in the past month or so, but I guess I am really passionate about hair accesorization. There is nothing easier than throwing on a bandana as a headband or adding a bow to pretty pretty braid.
  4. Hair masks – Do NOT overlook a conditioning treatment for your hair. Just living in this cruel world is harsh on your hair, so you need to give it the love it deserves. Split ends will never be in style, so take care of em now!
  5. Trim your gosh dang hair – this isn’t a product, just a suggestion.. I also used to be that person that went in and asked for 0.005 millimeters to be trimmed and was very upset when it looked closer to 0.006 mm gone. Freshly cut hair is healthy hair, so take off an inch or so and your hair will thank you.

That was a lot of hair talk, and even the word ‘hair’ now doesn’t seem like a real word.. but it is, and it’s also a real thing so take care of it! Until next time!
